Celebrate!

Howdy everyone! I just wanted to pop in with a little CAS birthday card I made over the weekend using Deconstructed Sketch 39 and Love Monsters from Taylored Expressions. Here’s the run down on how to make this card:

  1. Start with a 10.5″ x 5.25″ white cardbase. Fold in half to make a 5×25″ square card.
  2. Cut a 4.5″ white square, a 1.5″ x 4.5″ strip of patterned paper, and a 3.75″ square of patterned paper. Glue the 1.5″ x 4.5″ strip of paper to the 4.5″ white square cardstock about a 1/2″ away from the edge. If using liquid glue allow to dry.
  3. Position a Spellbinders Circle die in the middle of the white square, taping the die down face down. Run through die cut machine twice to cut and emboss.
  4. Glue the 3.75″ square of patterned paper to the center of the white card base. Using foam tape adhere the 4.5″ square with a circle cut out over the patterned paper on the card base.
  5. Stamp a monster from Love Monsters twice, once on white cardstock and once on patterned paper. Color the arms and legs of the monster on the white cardstock. Cut out the monster on white cardstock. Cut out the body of the monster on the patterned paper.
  6. Glue the monster stamped on white cardstock to the center of the circle opening on the card base. Use foam tape to attach and pop up the body of the monster cut from patterned paper. Glue googly eyes to the monsters eyes.
  7. Stamp a flag and sentiment from Fly Your Flag 3 on white cardstock. Use the coordinating die and alignment tool to cut out the flag. Fold the flag and glue around a toothpick. Trim the end of the toothpick so it’s not too long. Glue to the right hand of the monster.
  8. Attach coordinating buttons as desired to the lower left side of the circle using Glossy Accents or glue dots. (I used Glossy Accents.)

Taylored Expressions Key Ingredients – Thanks!

Please scroll down for my Tiddly Inks Challenge project. :)

I’m up today with a new project using the AMAZING February Key Ingredients kit AND the exclusive Vintage Dream stamp set available only to Key Ingredients subscribers. :)

For my card set today I started with the Vintage dreamer set and some GORGEOUS kraft card stock from the KI kit.  I folded my card so a little bit of the inside shows from the outside because I lined the inside edge with a few strips of paper from the MME Rosy pad. I love this fold because it let me use up some of the scraps from the first card I made from the kit.

On the corner of the front I stamped the medallion from the Vintage Dreamer set in Memento Rich Cocoa. On top of that I layered a leaf from the Mini Leaves Die set and a fairytale rose from the kit. The sentiment is stamped from the Vintage Dreamer set onto Choice Buttercream cardstock in Rich Cocoa and is die cut using the Fly Your Flag 2 die.

Here are the three other cards I made using this same layout:

Here are the dies I used on my cards:

First off let me just start out my description of my card by saying I LOVE THIS KIT, lol. I wish I had known about these Key Ingredients Kits sooner because they really have all you need to whip up cards quick, especially when everything matches so perfectly! Each kit comes with enough paper and embellishments to make 16 cards each month! They also come packaged in an awesome storage container so you can keep all the elements of each kit together… perfect for keeping track of scraps.

I used the AMAZING new Vintage Dreamer stamp set, a Kit Club Member EXCLUSIVE stamp set that is currently on sale for 50% off until March 10, 2012. I stamped the type writer from the set on Buttercream Choice cardstock using Rich Cocoa ink. I fussy cut it out and layered it on a Take Note 3 die cut out of kraft paper. The green background paper is embossed with the new Damask Impression Plate (LOVE… it’s absolutely gorgeous) and everything on the card have been sponged lightly with Rich Cocoa ink. The bottom border is die cut with the Medium Scalloped Border die. I added a bit of hand drawn stitching and finished up the card with a bit of ribbon and a Prima Fairytale rose.

Deconstructed Sketch 38

Here’s my sample:

My card originally started out down a clean and simple path and morphed into something else completely as I worked. I do really like the outcome though. I used Moka Katie for my image today and colored her with Copics. I actually have a little video of how I colored her that I’ll share a little further down. It started out as a tutorial and I was a little long winded to I sped it up and but music over it but you can follow along and see the process. :) Okay, back to my card. I started out with Moka Katie and paper from MME Love Me, my current favorite paper pad that I can’t stop using. Seriously, it’s very versatile, and I love the soft pinks in it. Here are the rest of the details on the card:

Image: Moka Katie, Taylored Expressions
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Vintage Photo
Paper: MME Love Me, Kraft, Choice Snow White cs
Accessories: Spellbinders Circles, doily, hand died sheer ribbon, dew drops, Prima roses, twine, glue dots, foam tape, 3M Quick Dry Adhesive, Glossy Accents, distress tool, Lots of Dots impression plate (Taylored Expressions), Sharpie pen, Copics.

And here’s the video I promised of how I colored Katie. :)

Here’s our fantastic guest designer, Amy Sheffer’s, sample:

So there’s a little something to get you started and now it’s time to hop around and see what everyone else on the DT has been up to and leave them a little love. :)
